Re-homing furs

Four years ago, I received as a gift a secondhand wool coat with silver fox fur on the cuffs and collar.  I've deliberated recently on what to do with this coat now that I'm vegan.

I considered selling it on eBay and donating the money to Farm Sanctuary or Mercy for Animals but realized doing so still propagates the wrong message; whomever buys this coat will still be making the statement that "fur is fashionable" whenever she wears it.  Donating it to a thrift store has the same end result.

I heard on one of my favorite podcasts, Our Hen House that you can donate your furs to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and they will put it to good use in other ways.  I'm not a huge fan of PETA (some of their methods are a little too extreme for me) but this seems like the best solution.

I urge the rest of you to consider this option for your furs.  Put those animals' spirits to rest and donate your furs to PETA.
